9:16am: I'm happy. It gives me hope to know that our country has finally embraced diversity, it gives me hope to know that so many people have become inspired and emotional over this election, and it gives me hope to know that my child will truly be born in a year of change.

We has a first appointment for Oct 10th. I was hoping it would be sooner and it probably could be if I went with another doctor, but I got an awesome referral from a friend who just had a baby. So, we'll just have to see this doctor, unless he doesn't live up to his alleged awesomeness.

The boy won't let me buy baby stuff yet. He is made of evil. Doesn't he know that baby needs a new pair of shoes????

I took this photo on mine and Heatherann's whirlwind tour of Seattle right before I moved.

I totally forgot all about it (which shows you exactly how excited I was), but a few weeks ago, this photo made it into the Schmap Seattle Guide.

Not a terribly big deal, but I thought it was kinda cool... and it's a funny t-shirt.

9:43am: Debate on lower drinking age bubbling up

Apparently, college presidents from around the world are petitioning to lower the drinking age back to 18 for the purpose of trying to curb binge drinking.

I heard this on the radio this morning and I've been tossing it around. Something about it bugs me. I know that you can be an adult at 18 in every aspect except drinking. You can vote, join the military, blah blah blah, but why can't you buy alcohol.

Well, I can guess why. I remember when my sister's boyfriend and some of his friends died in a car accident because they were drunk. They were all between the ages of 16 and 20.

But even that was after the age had been raised to 21. Most of the people I know, including myself, had been drunk so many times before turning 21 that they were practically tired of drinking by the time they actually reached the legal age. People will do it anyway regardless of what the legal age is, but for some reason, I just DO NOT like the idea of 18 year olds legally being able to drink themselves into stupidity. I mean, maybe it's my own perception, but most of them in today's society have no real concept of responsibility.

One suggestion was to make beer legal for 18, but keep liquor at 21. I actually like this. I know that you can still maintain some level of control with beer and it seems to wear off faster. Maybe if beer was legal, they wouldn't be as tempted to down any hard liquor.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

9:30am: Last night, for the first (maybe second?) time in my life, I ate fried green tomatoes.

I found them to be incredibly disgusting.

1:11pm: Overheard in the cafeteria:
Girl 1: "She's got the biggest eyeballs I've ever SEEN!!!!
Girl 2: "I know. Her eyeballs are so damn big, I BET she can see the future."

Two crossword puzzles and tons of gum flapping later, I am bored again.

The boss came in and got the rundown this morning. He knows I have nothing to do. Nickie is in the process of actually finding a project for me to work on for the next two days, which has to be cleared by my boss, which he will more than likely say no, and then I get to sit on mah butt even more and surf teh interwebs.

If tweren't for the paycheck, I'd just stay home.

Oh complain complain... my work ethic overpowers me. *must find something to do!*

At least I get a fat pizza party on Thursday. Everyone else gets to f off for a while in my honor. It will be my last bit of goodness to offer. =)

2:39pm: 5 days left at work.
11 days left in Seattle.

My biological father left me a voicemail last night singing Happy Birthday. "I'm not late, it just takes a long time for the call to get there." He calls to tell me Happy Birthday on HIS birthday.

I didn't call him back.

12:53pm: My desk is FLOODED with contracts and purchase orders. Travel vouchers are in queue behind these. I have status reports to upload and a cookbook to write for the next person here.

If I hear one more damn person say, "before you leave..." I might freakin' SCREAM!

11:20am: Phone Love...
princeshetheran and I we were standing in JC Penny when I realized that I had a voicemail. I immediately began flailing that Optimus Prime was calling to warn me of Decepticon forces moving into North Carolina.

Later, I got this happy voicemail from my mom saying that everything was okay and not to call. When I called this morning, she sounded better than she has in WEEKS! She gets half an hour of radiation a day and 3 hours of chemo one day a week. According to her, she hasn't had a problem at all. She was even laughing like a crazy person until she lost her voice again. My mom is a dork. Obviously, it's hereditary.

The nightly phone calls with the boy continue and last anywhere from 1 to 3 hours. The idea that we will ever run out of shit to talk about is completely ridiculous and the thought of the whole thing makes me grin like the Cheshire Cat.

I get to see him AND my baby sister in 17 days. Yes, I'm counting.

Arwen is hella cute and we are watching cartoons. She ran over, poked me, said "HUNRY", and then we had sammiches.
